Three groups of mainland teachers came in the summer of 2013 to join the professional training organized by St. Paul’s Innovation Centre for Exchange (SPICE). From 29 June to 6 July 2013, there were 26 teachers from Mianyang of Sichuan. Nearly the same time, from 30 June to 6 July, came 26 teachers from Dayi district of Chengdu, Sichuan. They were English teachers from 23 primary and secondary schools, as well as from the Education Research Team. From 6 to 12 July, there were 29 teachers from Shaoguan of Guangdong. Several were from Shaoguan Education Bureau, others were from various secondary schools in the district. The programme was conducted by a team of professional English language teachers who served as volunteers. Participants reviewed that they had received much inspiration in English language teaching and they were all motivated to try more lively teaching methods.
