The English Teachers Exchange Programme Summer 2019 was a successful initiative that brought together a total of 181 teachers from various regions. The programme consisted of four groups, each with its own duration and participants.
Group 1 comprised 30 PE, Arts, I.T., and Careers Teachers from Deyang, Sichuan. They participated in a 5-day programme from 8th July 12th, 2019. During their time, they attended four seminars and workshops, covering topics such as Mind-Body-Spirit Talk, Enhancing Learning Interest, Virtual Visual Experience of St. Paul’s Convent School, and Further Education and Guidance.
Group 2 consisted of 50 teachers from Shaoguan, while Group 3 included 50 teachers also from Shaoguan. Both groups had a 7-day programme, with Group 2’s duration being from 14th July to 20th July 2019, and Group 3’s duration being from 21st July to 27th July 2019.
Group 4 was comprised of 8 Beichuan High School Teachers who were non-English teachers. They also had a 7-day programme, taking place from 28th July to 3rd August 2019.
In addition to the aforementioned groups, 10 teachers from Shunde and 26 teachers from Kunming, Yunnan also participated in the programme.
For Group 1, apart from attending seminars and workshops, the teachers had the opportunity to visit the museum of the school supported by HKJC and had lunch with their officials.
For Group 2, 3, and 4 (English Teachers), two tutors from Canada, Ms. Agnes Yun-Lee and Mr. Dennis Lee, were invited to arrange seminars and workshops on English teaching. This year, co-teaching in a larger group setting was implemented to give teachers the experience of designing group activities for larger class sizes, which are common in China.
Throughout the programme, various cultural visits were organized to different locations in Hong Kong, including the Hong Kong Central Library, Bauhinia Square, The Peak, The University of HK, Ocean Park, SCAD, The Education University of Hong Kong, Central District/CBD, Tsim Sha Tsui – Science Museum, and Mong Kok.
The success of the programme would not have been possible without the dedicated support of staff volunteers and parents who contributed their time and effort to ensure the smooth running of the programme.
